David Furnish, Elton John's longtime partner, said in an interview that the couple were disappointed after Ukranian officials last year declined to allow them to adopt a 14-month-old, HIV-positive child.
But Furnish said he and John were "keeping their options open" with regards to raising a child.
"We need to recognize that we live in a diverse world now, and that a balanced, healthy and stable home can come from different places," Furnish told The Daily Telegraph.
In September an official with Ukraine's family, youth, and sports ministry that John was not eligible to adopt due to his age (he is 62) and the couple's marital status.
