Two of Britain's biggest artists are having a public spat, with gay painter David Hockney poking fun at conceptual artist Damien Hirst for using assistants to help make some of his pieces.
Hockney has an upcoming London show where posters advertise that the works were "made by the artist himself." Hockney gave an interview saying the sentence was a reference to Hirst, who's mentioned utilizing his assistants to assemble some of his pieces. Hirst is best known for his bejeweled skull and a shark suspended in formaldehyde.
"Hirst has said his assistants do a better painting job than he could and that he becomes easily bored," according to the Huffington Post.
