Parvati Shallow clinched her second win in the overall Survivor franchise after competing in the most recent season, Australia v. the World. On Sunday, she was announced as the winner and was awarded $250,000 AUD (about $165,000 USD).

While accepting the win, however, Shallow announced that she would be retiring from the game. "This is my final time playing Survivor, so to have been awarded the win from the jury is the sweetest moment," she explained.

The formidable player came out as queer in 2023 and shared that she is dating comedian Mae Martin. However, the two have since broken up.

"I am so grateful to have been a part of this incredible experience of Australia v. the World," she goes on to say. "There's something about this game that just gets in my blood. I feel like I was born to play Survivor. I think this is the best game of Survivor basically I've played because I think I made some pretty great moves, and I kept myself in a majority alliance."

Shallow played her first game back in 2006 for the show's 13th season and placed sixth, but two years later, she returned for the Micronesia season and took home her first win. She played two more games in 2010 and 2020 before making her way on to the second season of Alan Cummings' wildly popular reality competition show, The Traitors. Shallow made it to 11th place as a Traitor, going up against stiff competition. This was her first Survivor game in five years and her first win since 2008.

Shallow's fellow contestants paid tribute to her as one of the most respected players including her fellow Traitors and Survivor cast mate, Cirie Fields, whom she formed a special bond with. "It has been a pleasure to be a part of your Survivor journey. And you'll forever be my Survivor soulmate."

Shallow shared a few words about Fields on her Instagram in a post dedicated to her fellow player before the finale. "Yes, Survivor is a game of betrayal. But having a true friend in the game anchors you enough to make all the magic possible. Cirie is that for me," the caption reads. " And Janine is that for Luke. Here we are 4 besties heading into the final together. The Australia v USA showdown we’ve all been waiting for. Expect the unexpected!"
