The 2020 Tony Awards nominations are here and they're queer.

The most-nominated productions were the Alanis Morissette musical Jagged Little Pill (15), Moulin Rouge! (14), Slave Play (12), Tina: The Tina Turner Musical (12), and The Inheritance (11).

Slave Play -- the controversial play about interracial relationships by Black gay playwright Jeremy O. Harris -- made history by becoming the most-nominated nonmusical play in Tony history. Harris was "in shock" when he heard the news, according to his Thursday tweet.

The Inheritance, Matthew Lopez's production about the post-AIDS crisis generation of gay men, was also well-represented in the nonmusical categories with 11 nods.

This year's theatrical season was cut short by the pandemic, as Broadway went dark March 12. The 74th annual ceremony has not yet announced an air date.
