Is Barbie a lesbian? Or possibly bisexual?

That's the trending topic on Twitter, where users are recirculating a 2017 photo shoot of the popular doll as evidence.

In the pictures, Barbie is wearing a "Love Wins" T-shirt alongside a doll version of the designer of the apparel, ally Aimee Song. The dolls are depicted sitting next to each other on a bed, going on a walk, and dining, which all point to a possible romance, users say.

Song, whose shirts benefited LGBTQ+ young people, added to the speculation when she declared "I am the girlfriend" in her own Twitter post. She included a photograph of herself holding the doll.

Barbie is not the only Mattel doll to be the subject of gay rumors. Her chiseled ex-boyfriend Ken has faced speculation since his 1961 debut, and the recent release of a merman version in a harness has not quelled it.
