Eileen Myles’s Afterglow
Legendary poet and outspoken queer Eileen Myles has more than 19 books under her belt and her new one is a memoir in part from the point of view of the 16-year-old pit bull, Rosie, that she adopted in 1990. Inspired by Rosie's death, Myles has woven together an experimental ode to the love of her pet, invoking subjects as far-flung as Hitler's art, 14th-century tapestries, her experiences with alcoholism and the road to recovery, celebrity, politics, and mourning.
