Summer's fun, feminist series is back for a second season. And with a new queer character to boot! Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch's GLOW, a fictionalized series about the very real Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling who became a phenomenon in the '80s, was the breakout hit of last summer. The first season focused on the formation of GLOW and the disparate women who came together to make it happen. This season will dive more into their personal lives as well as cover topical, timeless issues like sexual harassment and the pervasive #MeToo moments that have existed forever. Shakira Barrera joins the cast as Yolanda, a lesbian exotic dancer who Marc Maron's producer-director Sam introduces to GLOW. Barrera joins returning cast members Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Kia Stevens, Sydelle Noel, Gayle Rankin, and more.

The making of cakes has been in the news often lately thanks to the Supreme Court decision that favored a Colorado baker who refused to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple, but it's an entirely different matter in The Cakemaker. Israeli director-writer Ofir Raul Graizer's first feature tells the story of Thomas (Tim Kalkhof), a German baker who falls in love with Oren (Roy Miller) a married businessman from Jerusalem who dies suddenly in a car accident. Thomas travels to Jerusalem, where he becomes close with Oren's widow Anat (Sarah Adler), who happens to run a bakery.

June's coming to a close, but there are still plenty of Pride events going on. San Antonio celebrates "Pride Bigger Than Texas" with a festival and parade Saturday. If you're lucky enough to be in Paris, the City of Light will observe Pride in the French style the same day. Bogota, Colombia, will have its Pride march and festival Sunday. And L.A. Black Pride kicks off a more than a week of events with a party Saturday in downtown Los Angeles, and the next few days will include many more parties, a screening of the Jewel's Catch One documentary, and a taco night, with the observance culminating in a beach party July 7 and pool party July 8.
