Saint Frances is tackling the real-life stigma facing many rainbow families.

In this exclusive clip from the film, a lesbian, Maya (Charin Alvarez), goes head to head with a stranger who takes issue with them for breastfeeding one of their children.

What begins as an argument over the acceptability of breastfeeding in a park escalates into slut-shaming and then an accusation of flaunting queerness in public. The situation is defused by Maya's adorable older child, Frances (Ramona Edith-Williams), who asks the stranger for her name.

Saint Frances is directed by Alex Thompson and stars Kelly O'Sullivan as a nanny who lands a job taking care of Frances. O'Sullivan also penned the script, which is based on her own experiences working as a nanny and deciding to end an unwanted pregnancy.

The production, which took home the Narrative Feature Audience Award at the 2019 SXSW Film Festival, premieres Friday in New York and opens in Los Angeles and additional markets March 6.
