Times are especially
tough in Rhode Island, where unemployment now sits at 10.3%.
But the tiny state's strip clubs seem to be finding a
market in these lean times. In fact, Providence's Foxy Lady
is doing so well that it's holding a job fair this
Saturday.
Foxy Lady co-owner Tom
Tsoumas tells MSNBC.com that his clubs, including two others
he's involved with in nearby Massachusetts, are
looking to fill around 30 positions: strippers, waitresses,
disc jockeys, and bartenders.
"I need more
attractive waitresses to go along with the ones I have right
now," Tsoumas tells the news site. Apparently,
hardscrabble folks in Rhode Island are still finding money to
sip beers and stuff G-strings.
"[The strip-club
industry has] taken a hit," Tsoumas says. "It's
not as bad as restaurants and stuff like that. In times like
this, they see to drink their sorrows away."
The economy is so bad
in Rhode Island that Tsoumas says he believes people previously
unwilling to disrobe in public would now be more amenable.
