Erik Bottcher tweeted that people calling themselves "gays against groomers" had earlier vandalized the walls in front of his office.
Protestors vandalized an out New York City Council member's office and entered his apartment building on Monday, the member said.
Erik Bottcher, who represents the city's District 3, including Greenwich Village, Chelsea, Hell's Kitchen, Hudson Square, Flatiron, Times Square, the Theater District, and the Garment District, tweeted that several people showed up to his office and defaced it.
"Today people who call themselves "gays against groomers" vandalized the hallway outside our district office. We will not be cowed. We will not be silenced. We will continue to stand up against hate," he wrote.

Later Bottcher said that the protestors showed up at his apartment building. He added that police arrested a couple of them.
"Tonight the Drag Story Hour protesters came to my apartment building and gained entry," Bottcher tweeted afterward. "My super called the cops and two of them were arrested for trespassing."
Bottcher added that he wouldn't be deterred by what happened.
"This is pure hate, unmasked," he said. "If they think this is going to intimidate us, they're mistaken. Our resolve is strengthened.

The vandalism comes a couple of days after protestors attempted to shut down a Drag Story Hour at a branch of the New York City Public Library. Counterprotesters were present to demonstrate against them.
Bottcher attended the story time and spoke with the anti-LGBTQ+ protestors.
