Could rapper Nicki Minaj be the next “Super Freaky Girl” to serve as White House press secretary?
White House communications director Steven Cheung openly floated the prospect, releasing a video of himself interviewing Minaj on Air Force One as she was headed to a rally with President Donald Trump.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!” Cheung posted on X.

At that rally, Trump complimented Minaj’s “beautiful ass,” remarks that followed similar assessments of Ohio Sen. Jon Husted’s posterior.
But Cheung’s post fueled speculation about whether Minaj could succeed Katie Zacharia, whose five-day tenure ended amid scrutiny of her legal credentials. Zacharia acknowledged that she had failed the California bar exam and never retaken it.
Minaj, meanwhile, has increasingly used her celebrity to promote right-wing politics, including anti-LGBTQ+ attacks on trans children and QAnon-style conspiracies about fellow rappers, including Jay-Z.
In the sit-down with Cheung, Minaj repeated Trump’s false claim that he won three presidential elections.
“You have a man who’s won three elections,” she said of Trump, who lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden.
She also attacked “legacy media” and portrayed Trump’s public service as an act of sacrifice, even as House Oversight Committee Democrats document what they describe as his family’s personal enrichment during his presidency.
Her embrace of Trump marks a departure from some of her earlier public positions. In 2019, Minaj canceled an appearance at a Saudi Arabian music festival, citing her “support for the rights of women, the LGBTQ community and freedom of expression.”
During the COVID-19 pandemic, however, Minaj spread an unsubstantiated claim that a friend of her cousin’s testicles allegedly became swollen after vaccination. More recently, she appeared on a podcast hosted by Katie Miller, the wife of Stephen Miller, a leading architect of Trump’s immigration crackdown. Minaj, who was born in Trinidad and Tobago, has also claimed she received a Trump gold card for free.

It remains unclear whether Minaj is seriously being considered for the job, though Trump ally Alex Bruesewitz posted “Hey Barbz, what do we think about this idea??” and Minaj herself shared Cheung’s video with an American flag and a grinning face with sweat emoji.
