Residents called the incident "disgraceful" and "upsetting."
Anti-LGBTQ Virginia Pastor E.W. Jackson raged against embassies he says are defying the Trump administration's edict not to fly them on poles.
Brett Perry (pictured) and John Michael Schert say the incident was traumatizing, but they're gratified by the level of support they've received.
Adolfo Martinez told a television station he was "guilty as charged."
From West Virginia to Iowa to Manhattan, the LGBTQ icon has been targeted nearly a dozen times in 2019.
Rev. Paul Kalchik burned the flag because he felt sexual abuse in the Catholic Church is a "gay thing."
The scorched rainbow remains were discovered by church members the following day.
The incident isn't the first time LGBTQ+ flags have been targeted in the area.
"It's an act of violence, it's a threat," said Michele Fitzpatric.
Adolfo Martinez had said he burned the flag because of his hostility to LGBTQ people.
Police are looking for two supsects in connection with the crime that occurred outside of the LGBTQ boutique Same Gender Love.
Kiev Pride takes place from June 9-18. During the opening ceremony, anti-LGBT protesters scuffled with police and burned a rainbow flag.
Police said he also made anti-Semitic comments.
