Sprigg: We Should Outlaw Gay Behavior

Spriggx390 (Screen grab) | Advocate.com

Peter Sprigg of the Family Research Council said on Hardball With Chris Matthews Tuesday that the Lawrence v. Texas Supreme Court decision that struck down antisodomy laws was wrong and that gay behavior should be outlawed.

Sprigg, a senior fellow for policy studies at the antigay FRC, appeared on the program to debate the repeal of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy with Aubrey Sarvis, executive director of Servicemembers Legal Defense Network.

As Sprigg mounted an increasingly illogical defense of the policy based on discrimination, Matthews pressed him on the question: "Do you think we should outlaw gay behavior?"

"I think that the Supreme Court decision in Lawrence v. Texas which overturned the sodomy laws in this country was wrongly decided," said Sprigg. "I think there would be a place for criminal sanctions against homosexual behavior."

"So we should outlaw gay behavior?" asked Matthews again.

Yes,” said Sprigg.

Wow, Matthews must have been in heaven. He "nailed" (yawn) the guest, and he also heard someone else verbalize his own subconscious attitude.

Maybe we should make it illegal for Religious entities, and those with close ties to them, to actively assert influence in the Political Arena. Oh, yes, that's right, it already is. Why, then, is this not being enforced?? As the US falls deeper into it's self-induced torpor, we will see increased attacks on our lives and wellbeing. The trend over several decades has been in a more conservative direction. If this continues we are going to be making some difficult decisions, individually and as a hated group. Genocide in Germany was precipitated by fear of particular groups as destructive to 'the state.' They are creating us in that same image. At the very least we should all have passports.

d from Raleigh is absolutely right, and I say this as one of the young gays he's addressing (I'm 27). Just look at recent history. Germany emancipated the Jews in the 1870s and had a huge flowering of the gay community in the 1920s, but notice how quickly a combination of economic misery and Nazi demagoguery reversed that. We need to stop just making fun of people like Sprigg and treating them like silly buffoons who need to get their facts straight and actually fight against these people. This is why we keep losing gay marriage initiatives -- because we underestimate the enormous power, clout and influence the religious right still has an the very, very scary lengths it would go to erase us form society if given the chance. Again, to paraphrase d, we could end up with someone like Mike Huckabee as president. Combined with a Republican majority in Congress and another conservative or two on the Supreme court, gay rights could quickly disappear in this country.

so, by this DOUCHBAG's logic...there are NO gay military individuals serving right now as we speak, hence no stories of straight soldiers being "molested" being reported or put out into the media...while, WE, the American people know FULL WELL that there ARE gay military individuals serving RIGHT NOW and there are NO stories of straight soldiers being "molested" or even "feeling uncomfortable" enough to the point of threatening a discharge...HOW DO THESE IDIOTS GET SO HIGH IN THEIR POSITIONS WITH THIS KIND OF NARROW THOUGHT PROCESS?!?..........and, can someone explain to me why the FUCK, everytime you have a yahoo on television trying to say why repealing DADT would be a BAD thing, they're only real defense is the "SHOWER" argument? LOL. it's NEVER about intelligence or skills or patriotism. it always comes down to "they'll make straight soldiers unfortable when they shower"? really? that's all you got? gays leading to smelly troops?.......with that logic, why is it still around?!?
