Lady Gaga will get the help of one very special guest during her performance at this Sunday's 88th annual Academy Awards: Joe Biden.
The vice president will introduce Mother Monster to the worldwide Oscars audience when she performs her powerful tune "'Til It Happens to You," the Los Angeles Times reports.
The song, for which she and iconic songwriter Diane Warren are nominated in the Best Original Song Oscar category, is featured in the 2015 documentary The Hunting Ground. The film chronicles the growing problem of sexual violence on college campuses, an issue that Biden sought to address for decades.
"It's on all of us to change the culture that asks the wrong questions -- and our culture still asks the wrong questions. It is never the right question for a woman to ask: 'What did I do?' The question is: 'Why was that done to me and will someone do something about it?'" Biden said in September 2014, during the launch of the "It's on Us" campaign. The organization advocates and provides resources for victims of sexual violence and is the beneficiary of proceeds from "'Til It Happens to You."
Biden was also the main author of the 1994 Violence Against Women Act, a landmark federal law enacted during his Senate tenure that provided necessary help to those who experience any kind of sexual assault, and that holds perpetrators of sexual violence accountable for their actions.
Although they may make an unlikely duo, given both Gaga's and Biden's work, their pairing to promote this worthy cause is one to anticipate on Oscar Sunday.
