Syndicated columnist Liz Smith reports that Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana--fresh from their Oscar victory for adapting Annie Proulx's Brokeback Mountain to the screen--are saddling up for a six-hour miniseries at CBS. Comanche Moon, a prequel to McMurtry's Lonesome Dove, will be written by McMurtry and Ossana and directed by Simon Wincer, who directed the Dove miniseries. Steve Zahn and Linda Cardellini (who costarred in Brokeback) have already been cast as well as Val Kilmer and Rachel Griffiths. No airdate has yet been announced. (The Advocate)
