Designers Dolce & Gabbana announced Tuesday that they will withdraw an ad that has been condemned for its apparent dramatization of violence against women. The ad shows a shirtless man holding down a woman by her wrists while other men watch, according to Reuters.
"We were looking to re-create a game of seduction in the campaign and highlight the beauty of our collections," the designers said in a statement.
The Spanish government already called for the advertisement to be banned, as has Italy's self-regulatory advertising body, the IAP. Some ads will run in printed publications, as their run date or deadlines have already passed. (The Advocate)
