NFL free agent and former St. Louis Rams draft pick Michael Sam was eliminated on the fourth week of Dancing With the Stars' latest season, but he went out with a bang.

Sam and dancing partner Peta did a rumba to "Not My Father's Son," a ballad from the Tony-winning musical Kinky Boots, about a son dealing with his father's homophobia. It's a subject that hits close to home for Sam.

"I haven't talked to my father since February 2014," Sam told Access Hollywood. "Time will heal all wounds, and I know eventually I probably can forgive my father and speak to him. ... I know that deep down he loves me. I just need to be patient."
