Paul’s new books, Larrikin Prince and Larrikin Bravado, are now available. These photos are the outtakes from Larrikin Prince we can show you without censoring. We showed you a preview of Larrikin Bravado a few days ago, so check it out here.
"Larrikin Prince harks back to the European themes of my Heroics collection, but is shot entirely on location. When I was kindly offered the use of a 17th century French chateau and grounds, I knew this would form the core of something very special. I quickly organised and coordinated as many men as I could to travel to northern France and lugged as many costumes and wigs as I could from London. My hosts were the kindest art-enablers you could wish for and the days spent there were made seamlessly productive, beyond my wildest dreams, by their hospitality. The book is built around the stories shot there, and at another marvellous location generously offered, a 16th century farmhouse outside Barcelona in Spain. Once again, all the elements came together in an abundance of evocative visual stories. The most difficult part in France was shooting intensively over a number of days. But again, my hosts were exemplary in ensuring that all I had to think about was the photography. Oh, and the weather, which wasn't entirely co-operative. Prince is a collection of various styles of regal life, flavoured of course with my signature texturing and larrikin aesthetic."
