The Senate Appropriations Committee Subcommittee on Foreign Relations on Wednesday approved a $31.8 billion foreign aid bill for fiscal 2006 that includes more money for international AIDS efforts than President Bush requested in his budget proposal. The measure includes $2.9 billion in global AIDS spending, about $300 million more than Bush proposed. The bill now goes to the full Appropriations Committee. The full House of Representatives on Tuesday approved a foreign aid bill that includes $2.7 billion in international AIDS spending for fiscal 2006.
