The San Francisco AIDS Foundation on Tuesday announced the hiring of Steven Tierney as the new deputy director for programs and services at the agency. Tierney, who will join SFAF on December 1, brings more than 20 years of HIV experience to the agency, most recently having served as the director of HIV prevention for the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Tierney will oversee all of the foundation's programming efforts, including client services, prevention and community-level interventions, the California HIV/AIDS Hotline, and the HIV Prevention Project, one of the largest needle-exchange programs in the country.

"We are thrilled to be hiring someone of Steven Tierney's stature and experience for this critical position," said Mark Cloutier, executive director of SFAF. "Steven's combination of skills, knowledge, and background will be an incredible asset to this agency and will help us design and implement cutting-edge HIV care and prevention programs that will have the largest impact possible on fighting this disease."
