Instinct magazine, the nine-year-old gay men's lifestyle title, has purchased the eight-year-old quarterly Gay Travel News, the company announced Wednesday. The purchase price paid to GTN's owner and founder, the LGBT marketing firm Community Marketing Inc., was not made public.

"It's a perfect addition to the award-winning content our readers enjoy every month," said the magazine's founder and publisher, J.R. Pratts, in a press release. "Instinct's fans--as we like to call our readers--are the types that like to get away, and do it as often as they can."

The combination of titles puts Instinct in direct competition with LPI Media, a division of PlanetOut Inc., which publishes The Out Traveler as a quarterly supplement to The Advocate and Out magazines, the best-selling titles in the LGBT magazine market. Instinct is the second best-selling gay men's lifestyle magazine after Out.

Gay Travel News, described as a "quarterly consumer newsletter" in the press release, will be relaunched in conjunction with Instinct's October travel Issue.
