Darrell Lynn Madden was sentenced to four consecutive life terms in prison on Thursday after admitting to killing a 62-year-old gay man in Oklahoma City last year, reports The Oklahoman.

In a plea deal made with prosecutors, Madden, 38, pleaded guilty to kidnapping and slaying Steven Domer. He earned two additional like terms for assaulting and spitting on Oklahoma County jail guards.

The victim's brother Mort Domer spent a half hour with Madden before the self-identified white supremacist made his plea. Domer told TheOklahoman that the evil he saw in Madden during a preliminary hearing on October 27, 2007, was gone yesterday, adding that his eyes "looked like a little boy's eyes. It was sad."

Madden also admitted to killing Bradley Qualls, the man who helped him kidnap Domer on October 26, 2007. In all, Madden will serve five consecutive life sentences and will likely die in prison.

Domer said he was grateful to have gotten the opportunity to meet with his brother's killer and ask why the two men had targeted his brother. He added that Madden told him it was planned as a simple robbery, and Domer said it helped to see his remorse for what he had done.

Defense attorney Melissa French told the paper that the meeting was also helpful to Madden because Domer offered him forgiveness. (The Advocate)
