The Washington, D.C., city government is refunding its annual gay pride festival organizers more than $14,000 in fees that were paid fpr police overtime and extra security costs for this year's event. After city council member Phil Mendelson raised questions about the fee, Darrell Darnell of the city's Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency refunded the fee, according to the Washington Blade.

The returned fee went to the Whitman-Walker Clinic, the chief sponsor and organizer of the Capital Pride parade and festival. (The Advocate)
