Seven of the 10 Topeka library trustees were appointed by Mayor Bill Bunten, a Republican running for reelection on March 3. Four Bunten appointees were part of the 5-3 majority that voted last week to restrict access to four books about sex, including The Lesbian Kama Sutra . One of Bunten's opponents, city council member Jeff Preisner, is accusing Bunten of stacking the library's board to achieve his goals.
Bunten counters that Preisner voted in 2007 and 2008 to confirm the four appointees who voted for the book restrictions. (Advocate.com)
