A White House official has reported that Elena Kagan volunteered information about her sexual orientation during discussions about her possible Supreme Court nomination, The Huffington Post's Sam Stein reports.
"Solicitor General Kagan volunteered the information to the White House when media reports surfaced in the pre-nomination process for the Supreme Court," a White House aide e-mailed The Huffington Post. Kagan, as the White House and close friends report, is straight.
The e-mail to The Huffington Post followed a story in The Washington Post Friday reporting that "administration officials asked Kagan directly about her sexual orientation when she was being vetted for her post as solicitor general."
