Nineteen-year-old lesbian Aiyisha Hassan ended her life October 5 after struggling with her sexuality, reports the website LezGetReal.
From 2008 to 2009, Hassan attended Howard University in Washington, D.C.; she then moved back to California, where she reportedly took her life.
"She was having a lot of trouble with a lot of different things," Hassan's friend Lauren Morris said, according to LezGetReal. "But mainly her sexual identity and just trying to express that."
More specific details of Hassan's suicide remain unavailable.
