Garrett Hedlund smolders as bisexual antihero Dean Moriarty in just-released stills from the long-awaited film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's classic novel about a pair of peripatetic friends, On the Road.
E! Online's Marc Malkin spoke with Tom Sturridge, who plays Moriarty's sometime lover Carlo Marx, a somewhat fictionalized version of famed Beat poet Allen Ginsberg. In the interview, Sturridge says, "I remember the beginning when all of us were sitting at rehearsals looking at each other being like, 'How is this responsibility of this film sitting on our shoulders?'"
Hedlund recently discussed the film with The Advocate, saying the relationship between the two characters is definitely visible in the screenplay, and "it was such an honor to portray one of the richest characters ever written."
On the Road is directed by Walter Salles and also stars Sam Riley, Amy Adams, and Kristen Stewart. A release date has not yet been set.
