A sports news anchor in Canada is out of work for supporting Hockey
manager who criticized Sean Avery's support of marriage equality.
When Avery recorded a video in support of marriage in New York, it made him the first NHL player to become part of such an advocacy campaign. It prompted Hockey manager Todd Reynolds to share his disapproval of marriage equality. But when Damian Goddard, a host of Sportsnet's Connected, publicly agreed with Reynolds, it prompted the network to fire Goddard.
"I completely and whole-heartedly support Todd Reynolds and his support for the traditional and TRUE meaning of marriage," Goddard said in a tweet, according to the Toronto Star. Soon after, Sportsnet said that they fired him, but the network's problems with Goddard started well before the tweet. Sportsnet also said in a statement that Goddard's views are not reflective of that of the network.
