The world's most popular YouTuber took to Twitter to speak out against transphobia.

In a viral Tweet, YouTube mogul MrBeast fired back at transphobic comments targeting his friend and collaborator Chris Tyson.

With 145 million subscribers to his name, Jimmy Donaldson — known online as MrBeast — has built a veritable YouTube empire. He runs five YouTube channels alongside off-the-web businesses like MrBeast Burger and Feastables, and has amassed a net worth of more than $500 million, per Forbes.

On Thursday, the 24-year-old Donaldson was named one of Timemagazine's 100 most influential people of 2023.

The star's main channel videos are known for their high production values and grandiose philanthropic gestures (he recently paid for the life-changing eye surgeries of 1,000 blind people). But this week, he's been involved in performing a different kind of social good: battling transphobia.

Chris Tyson, a longtime MrBeast collaborator and content creator, has come under attack after announcing that they are undergoing hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Tyson, who uses any pronouns, made their transition journey public in a Tweet that received almost 40 million views.

In a follow-up Tweet, Tyson stated that "Informed consent HRT saved my and many others' lives. The hurdles gnc people have to jump through to get life-saving gender-affirming healthcare in a 1st world country is wild to me. Just let people make informed decisions about their own bodies."

Tyson's announcement was met with a mixture of support and transphobia. One popular YouTuber, SunnyV2, released a video titled "Why Chris [Tyson] Will Soon Be A Nightmare For MrBeast" that suggests Tyson's feminine appearance may negatively impact MrBeast's popularity.

One Twitter user called the video "invasive," "offputting," and "unnecessary," to which MrBeast replied: "Yeah, this is getting absurd. Chris isn’t my “nightmare” he’s my fucken friend and things are fine. All this transphobia is starting to piss me off."

Tyson has yet to respond to MrBeast's comments, but other users have praised the YouTuber's decision to speak out.
