August 2 was the four-year anniversary and grand finale of the best downtown party ever, Queen Kong.
It's with a heavy heart that downtown Los Angeles bid farewell to the scruffy go-go boys and monstrous drag performers of Queen Kong at Precinct. For the past four years, the event thrown by the Boulet Brothers has provided a haven for Angelenos who have defied the cookie-cutter mold of what it means to be queer.
At Saturday's final hurrah, Evah Destruction, Diamondback Annie, Glen Alen, Tito Soto, Kornbread Jete, Nicky Monet, and Tito Bonito took the stage for one last genderfuck. The Boulets themselves closed the evening for one last bewitching number.
Fans of Queen Kong will be happy to know that this is not the last they'll see of the Boulets. Season 3 of The Boulet Brothers Dragula is coming to Amazon Prime on August 27. The series has already made drag history, as it is the first reality television competition to feature a drag king, Landon Cider.
