WATCH: Pat Robertson's Latest AIDS Conspiracy

Robertson adds to his string of outrageous claims by saying 'the towels could have AIDS' in Kenya.

Notorious anti-LGBT crusader and televangelist Pat Robertson has made what might rank as his most outrageous claim to date -- that towels can have and transmit AIDS.

Robertson was responding to a question from a missionary who was actually inquiring about whether he should be worried about contracting Ebola during a mission trip.

"Not in Kenya," Robertson said Thursday on his TV show, The 700 Club. "You might get AIDS in Kenya. The people have AIDS. You gotta be careful. I mean, the towels could have AIDS. There are things -- there are diseases in Africa."

Turning back to Ebola, Robertson said that it is "a horrible disease, but it can be contained and it can be dealt with."

This isn't Robertson's first time making outlandish statements about HIV and AIDS. Last year he claimed that gay and AIDS activists have purposefully tried to transmit HIV using special rings designed to cut people and "transfer blood" during handshakes.

Robertson's long history of making ridiculous claims also includes saying that single mothers make boys gay and that many people are LGBT as a consequence of child abuse.

Also among Robertson's "greatest hits," so to speak, is a 1992 letter in which he asserted that the feminist movement "is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."
