Trevor Noah is shocked to learn that North Carolina could potentially lose billions of dollars in federal funding over HB 2. 

Opponents contend this could be the death knell for the bill, which would restrict transgender students' restroom use.

Democratic Attorney General Roy Cooper blasts Gov. Pat McCrory's latest attempt to keep the anti-LGBT law alive.

"We have seen both of these states pass legislation that betray the basic rights to equal protection and self-expression that all Americans are guaranteed by the Constitution," says Mayor Eric Garcetti.

About 50 athletes have signed on to Athlete Ally's letter condemning the state's "bathroom bill," including (from left) Gus Kenworthy, Brittney Griner, and Aydian Dowling.

Speaking at a press conference, presidential spokesman Josh Earnest criticized transphobic laws that "seek to target and marginalize one small segment of the population."

One would enact a ban on state-funded travel to states with anti-LGBT laws, the other provide for gender-neutral restroom access.

The House-approved bill, now going to the Senate, would mean the state and cities couldn't require companies they do business with to have nondiscrimination policies.

The state could lose billions of dollars in federal funding for schools, highways, and housing.

Two trans candidates make history by filing to run for North Carolina's state legislature. Just three years ago, state lawmakers passed the nation's most notorious bathroom bill.

The bill is more restrictive than the one that became law in Florida.

In a statement, Roy Cooper told Pat McCrory, "Governor, work to repeal HB 2."
