Ben Cohen's Jockstrap Benefits Gays

RUGBY PLAYER BEN COHEN X390

Rugby star Ben Cohen donated a signed jockstrap to a fund-raiser for U.K.-based Gay Men Fighting AIDS, and it managed to raise $460 for the organization.

“I am happy to support this year’s GMFA/RVT Gay Sports Day,” Cohen said in a statement the day before the event. “Sport is an important part of my life, and it’s great to see a community come together and enjoy sport in such a fun and accessible way. Plus it raises vital funds for the important work carried out by GMFA and the other charities which will benefit from the day.”

Cohen has long been a vocal supporter of gay rights and has even appeared in a number of U.K.-based gay publications. The rugby player also donated other items to the auction, but figures for those items are not yet available.

He is SO adorable. And his attitude is SO refreshing, coming from the sports world. More sport players should be like Ben Cohen. He is an example to us all. Bravo!

I once again took part in this years event (having done so for the last three years running) and am really chuffed Ben's contribution. Our group of friends fielded two teams this year and managed to raise just under £1000 for each team. We were also able to secure items from Kylie Minogue for the auction this year, having gained the support of Joanna Lumly (Ab Fab Fame) last year. It is a GREAT event, and I'm glad to see we have been able to get such great publicity this year. If you happen to find yourself in London at the end of August next year, please come join us - its a day you won't forget! Thanks Advocate for the coverage. Jason

I mean this in the most loving and respectful way, but if I was wealthy I would have paid Ben ANY AMOUNT to deliver that jock in person and allow me to personally remove it. I would have paid him a bonus 1 million just to kiss that beautiful face of his and hug him. What a special man he is no matter what team he is on or what he is wearing.

Having a great body and a beautiful smile is one thing, but knowing Ben's actions for the HIV+ folks makes him a truly sexy. Makes me want to marry him, cook for him, raise his kids!

This is EXACTLY what we need to fight homophobia in professional sports. This fine young man is taking a stand for what he KNOWS to be right! I thank him for his support and wish him every success in his sport. As an inveterate Rugby fan, myself, I am glad to see one of 'my' sports players doing this. Good on, lad.
