It’s a truism that gaydar goes on the fritz when it encounters the British because they’re all so, well, gay anyway. It turns out it’s not our provincial imagination. When asked about the fight between him and Colin Firth in the film Bridget Jones’s Diary, Hugh Grant replied, as quoted by the New York Post, “It was basically a fight between two middle-class Englishmen—i.e., girls.”
