The fifth annual Webby Awards, being held Wednesday, July 18, at San Franciscos War Memorial Opera House, will be hosted for the second year in a row by performer Alan Cumming. The awards, which are overseen by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, honor Web sites and individual achievement in creativity and technology. The founder and director of the awards, Tiffany Shlain, says, Part of the thrill of the Webby Awards is that you never know who may show up. Past judges include animator Matt Groening, editor Tina Brown, and musician David Bowie. Shlain promises that this year will bring the most unpredictable and spirited Webby Awards show yet. The event will be broadcast live on www.abcnews.com, beginning at 7 p.m., Pacific time, with a preshow hosted by newsman Sam Donaldson. For further information, go to www.webbyawards.com
