Roger Bart, who originated the role of outrageously flamboyant director's assistant Carmen Ghia in Broadway's The Producers, will play Nicole Kidman's gay best pal in the remake of The Stepford Wives, reports Variety. Openly gay writer Paul Rudnick is writing the film for out producer Scott Rudin. Bart's character does not appear in the original film or in Ira Levin's novel but is a creation of Rudnick's. After winning acclaim as Carmen Ghia, Bart is now playing Leo in The Producers and will shoot his role in the film after his stage engagement ends in mid May.
