The Joy of Life, the debut feature of lesbian filmmaker-archivist-critic Jenni Olson, has been acquired by Frameline for North American distribution. The experimental film tells two San Francisco stories--the history of the Golden Gate Bridge as a suicide landmark and the story of a butchy dyke in the city searching for love and self-discovery. Joy premiered at January's Sundance Film Festival and has sparked new discussion about erecting a suicide barrier on the Golden Gate Bridge. No release dates for the film have yet been set, but it will next be seen May 1 at the San Francisco International Film Festival.
