To some fans' delight and others' horror, the gay-directed film adaptation of Dreamgirls will feature four new songs, by the original Broadway composer, not in the original stage musical, Entertainment Weekly reported Thursday.

The film, based on the 1981 musical of the same name, will star Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, and Anika Noni Rose as a Supremes-like girl group climbing the charts and attempting to deal with success. Beyonce will sing the new song "Listen," and Hudson, a former American Idol contestant, will perform "Love You I Do." The remaining new songs were not disclosed.

Bill Condon, the film's out director and screenwriter, told Entertainment Weekly, "They will be saying, 'He changed this, he changed that.' I mean, that's what I would say."

The film, also starring Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy, is set for a December 22 release. (The Advocate)
