In Star magazine's latest "Stars: Are They Normal or Not?" section, Adam Sandler and Kevin James, costars of the film I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, pose for a mock kiss to promote the film's play-as-gay plot. The magazine stamped a "Not Normal" label over the picture, much to the distaste of Boy Culture blogger Matthew Rettenmund.

Rettenmund wrote in a post that Star editor in chief Candace Trunzo should "pucker up and kiss my normal gay ass."

Through the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, Trunzo has apologized for the photo caption, saying, " 'Normal/Not Normal' is supposed to be funny, and I regret that this particular photo caption was offensive and not written in a way to make it clear we were being humorous. The joke was that Kevin James and Adam Sandler are not gay. If the kiss was between Lance Bass and his boyfriend or any other gay celebrities, it would be 'normal.' "

Trunzo also mentioned that in the same Star issue a "Couples News" section included a story on Neil Patrick Harris and his boyfriend.

Rettenmund published the apology on his Web site Friday. (The Advocate)
