Grey Gardens, the mother-daughter musical that
celebrated two eccentric relatives of Jacqueline Kennedy
Onassis, may be gone, but now you will be able to add
what was one of last season's most celebrated shows to
your bookshelf.
Grey Gardens: The Complete Book and Lyrics has
just been published by Applause Theatre & Cinema Books
($16.95). The musical, which closed on Broadway in
July after a 307-performance run, was based on the
1975 film documentary by the Maysles brothers. The
musical starred Christine Ebersole and Mary Louise
Wilson, who both won Tonys for their performances.
The show has a
book by Doug Wright and a score by Scott Frankel (music)
and Michael Korie (lyrics).
There also are
two CD recordings of the show, one of the off-Broadway
Playwrights Horizons version; the other of the slightly
different Broadway recording. Both have been issued by
PS Classics. (AP)
