A 26-year-old Detroit man was arrested after police say he lured two men on the Grindr app and killed one and wounded the other.

Demetris Nelson is charged with first-degree murder, felony murder, assault, and using a firearm during a felony, along with assorted gun charges, reports the Associated Press. Nelson is accused of killing Brian Anderson, 31, and shooting Malcolm Drake, 26, during a July 5 robbery attempt. Drake was critically wounded, and his current status hasn't been made public.

Police say Nelson targeted gay men specifically by using Grindr, a dating and hookup smartphone app.

A special prosecutor from the Fair Michigan Justice Project, a group that helps Michigan police investigate crimes against LGBTQ people, has been assigned to the case.
