Film director Michael Moore, known for his politically pointed documentaries, has released TrumpLand, a movie based on his one-man show about the 2016 election.

The film, which was released Tuesday in New York, opens in Los Angeles Wednesday. Moore's team cut the one-man anti-Trump show that he's been performing in Wilmington, Ohio, into a film over a period of 11 days.

The Bowling for Columbine director performed his show for two nights in Ohio to a crowd of mostly conservative voters. The 73-minute film resembles a "stand-up gig" more than a documentary, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Michael Moore endorsed Bernie Sanders for president in the primary season, but in this film he attempts to build up support for Hillary Clinton, who won the Democratic nomination over Sanders. On Twitter, Moore called the film his "October surprise."

Last month, Moore, 62, claimed that one Ohio theater attempted to keep him for performing his anti-Trump play. The theater responded and said they never banned Moore from performing at the theater.

"It always amazes me when people choose to just outright lie instead of simply admitting the truth and then being proud of their decision," said Moore, in response. That's when the director moved his show to a different theater in Ohio, in a community Moore described as a "small Republican town."

Michael Moore's TrumpLand is currently playing at the IFC in New York and Laemmle's Town Center 5 in Los Angeles.
