Officials with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS issued a statement Thursday warning people around the world about the circulation of e-mails that claim to be from the organization and include detailed information about recipients or donations. "These e-mails do not emanate from UNAIDS, and are not in any way associated with UNAIDS projects or events," according to a statement from the agency. UNAIDS is asking anyone who receives the e-mails to forward the messages to the agency at unaids@unaids.org.
