Five people have been indicted on 44 counts of illegally purchasing and distributing HIV drugs by the U.S. Attorney's office in New Hampshire. According to The Boston Globe, a New Hampshire woman and four men from California were able to acquire large quantities of Serostim, an injectable drug manufactured by Serono SA.
The indictment claims that Beth Handy arranged for the sale using falsified documents. The drugs were then shipped to California to distributors who thought they were purchasing them from a wholesaler. The attorney's office disclosed that the operation generated nearly $963,000 in illegal proceeds. (The Advocate)
