Kerry Taylor Auctions in London raised over $400,000 Tuesday selling pieces from actress Audrey Hepburn's personal clothing collection.
Items up for bidding came from 1953 to the late 1960s, and included an unused wedding gown, hats, coats, belts, and jackets.
Hepburn's collection included pieces from her close friend designer Hubert de Givenchy as well as Valentino Garavani.
"Audrey's one of the greatest style icons of our times ... the genius of Givenchy and Valentino combined with her own sense of style and her own wonderful sense of poise and grace make these items fantastic," Kerry Taylor told CNN.
The big-ticket item was a black lace cocktail dress from Hebpurn's film How to Steal a Million. Expected to garner PS20,000, the dress went for PS60,000, approximately $97,700, reports the Associated Press. The total raised was PS268,320, about $436,000.
Lifelong friend Tanja Star-Busmann donated the majority of the collection. In honor of Hepburn's humanitarian work, half of the proceeds are being donated to Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund and UNICEF for their joint venture All Children in School. The program is aimed at bringing 120 million children worldwide back to school.
