T.R. Knight was poised to make his big return to Broadway in March in Lend Me a Tenor but dropped out unexpectedly for unknown reasons. He's been replaced by Hangover star Justin Bartha.

Bartha will play Max, the assistant to the general manager of the Cleveland Opera Company, in the screwball comedy. The role was originated by Victor Garber in the 1989 production.

Knight left Grey's Anatomy earlier this year, in part, he said, to shift his focus back to the stage. He recently wrapped a two-month run in the Los Angeles production of the musical Parade.

Bartha's star rose significantly this year with a starring turn in The Hangover. He will next be seen on the big screen in 2010's romantic comedy The Rebound, opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Tenor also marks the directing debut of The Devil Wears Prada's Stanley Tucci.
