Jackson on Playing Gay and Straight

As debate continues over a Newsweek article questioning whether gay actors are convincing in gay roles, actor Cheyenne Jackson said in an interview with The Advocate in April he may have been passed over for certain roles by gay television and film executives.

"There have been specific parts where it's been down to me and one other guy, and I was totally the best for the part ... but behind closed doors, there are these execs, who are either like, execs that are possibly gay, possibly self-loathing ... you can't tell me that won't factor into it."
