Milk's Academy Award-winning screenwriter, Dustin Lance Black, spoke passionately about Harvey Milk Day at an event on Saturday in East Los Angeles.
Black stressed the importance of the California-sanctioned holiday, celebrated for the first time this year, and how as a child he was never informed of affirming gay role models such as Milk.
