A former high school geography teacher is on trial on charges of sexually assaulting two male students on multiple occasions more than 20 years ago.
John William Gibson (pictured), a former teacher at Riverside High School in Windsor, Canada, is alleged to have served alcohol to minors and performed sex acts on at least two male students, performing oral sex on one while he was passed out drunk, between 1984 and 1986, according to The Windsor Star.
A former student, who is now 43 and is unidentified because of a court order protecting his family, testified in superior court in Windsor last week that Gibson sexually assaulted him four times — once in his own home.
He says the teacher showed him a collection of guns and gay male pornography and directed him to get rid of it if anything should happen to him.
The student says he came forward and pressed charges after spending years in therapy for depression caused by the teacher’s assault.
The other student pressing charges against Gibson says he reported the multiple instances of sexual assault to Windsor police in 1997, but that nothing was done. Police say they have no record of the report.
The trial against Gibson will continue next week.
