A former adviser to failed Iowa gubernatorial candidate Bob Vander
Plaats is urging him to cease his campaign to remove the state supreme court justices who
unanimously ruled for marriage equality in 2009.
Vander Plaats, who heads the organization called The Family Leader, spearheaded the campaign to oust three of the judges last November in a recall election. He has called for the remaining four justices to resign.
However, according to KCAU-TV, former adviser Dan Moore, who helped Vander Plaats with his gubernatorial bid, has accused Vander Plaats of politicizing the judicial process.
"I wish he would just step back, and take a look at what he's doing, and back off a little bit, and consider the consequences of his actions," said Moore.
Meanwhile, at a forum in Sergeant Bluff, Vander Plaats declined to talk about Moore, and he urged his audience to "be biblical, not political," reports KCAU-TV.
